IGP Seeks Setting Up Of Joint Operations Centre

As the new acting Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, continues his familiarisation tour yesterday, he called for the establishment of a joint operation centre among all security agents in every police command across the country.

Idris, who made the call when he visited the Controller General of Prison and his immigration counterpart in Abuja, argued that the an operational centre situated in every police command, will not only make the work of the Nigeria Police easier, but it will also ensure the reduction of crimes because, a criminal that escapes the Intel of one agent, will be caught by another one within the same area.

The acting IGP, while speaking on the importance of  synergy among the security agents, also called for coordinated intelligence sharing, noting that the harnessing of  intelligence available to different security agency, would go along way in solving Nigeria crime problems.

While pledging to work with the new acting IGP in actualising his vision, the comptroller general of immigration, Mohammad Babandede urged to give immigration access to the interpol central server as this will enable the agency know who is supposed to cross the border and who is not.

Speaking further, Babandede, who pledged to work with the police both at border and with the city, also emphasised the need for intelligence sharing among the two security agencies, starting that with the help of the police, immigration plans to have individual data of foreigner in a community soon.

Earlier, the controller of prisons, Ja’Afaru Ahmed had also pledged to direct all his officers across the country to collaborate and work with the Nigeria Police Force for a better and crime-free society.
