A PDP chieftain, Mr Ahmed Gulak, has denied allegations that he hijacked the party congress materials for meant for Adamawa state.

NAN reports that the PDP Chairman in Adamawa, Chief Joel Madaki, had accused Gulak of illegally collecting the materials.

Madaki alleged that when he went to collect the materials from PDP National Headquarters at Wadata Plaza in Abuja, he was told that Gulak had already collected them.

Reacting to the allegation in an interview with newsmen on Sunday in Yola, Gulak said that what he did was to stand as guarantor for the state in collecting the materials.

Gulak said that the PDP headquarters in Adamawa could not pay the over N9 million required to get the forms released to the state for the congress, hence his decision to stand as guarantor and collect the forms.

He said that he had since handed over the forms to members of the party congress committee in the state.

“When I collected the forms, I saw two members of the committee for Adamawa State and handed over the materials to them.

“I don’t want to join issues with Chief Joel Madaki but he should know that I won’t do anything inimical to the progress of our party,” Gulak said.

When contacted on the development, a member of the congress committee, Malam Yusuf Madugu, simply said that there was no problem and that everything was okay with regard to the congress.
