The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has set up national campaign committees for the forthcoming governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States, scheduled for November 21 and December 5, respectively.
A statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu is to lead the Kogi State campaign committee as Chairman while PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) Secretary,
Senator Walid Jibril will serve as Deputy Chairman and the National Legal Adviser of the party, Victor Kwon serves as secretary.
The Kogi committee also has the former Senate President, Senator David Mark, seven PDP state governors and other key stakeholders as members.
In the same vein, the Bayelsa State campaign committee has acting BoT Chairman, Dr. Bello Haliru Mohammed as Chairman, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as Deputy Chairman, while the Deputy National Secretary of the party, Mr. Onwe Solomon Onwe serves as Secretary.
Other members of the Bayelsa committee include Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, House Minority Leader, Hon. Leo Ogor, four PDP state governors and other critical stakeholders.
The NWC also approved that all state chairmen, senators and members of the House of Representatives from the respective zones of the two states are automatic members of the committees.
According to the statement, the date for the National flag-off the gubernatorial campaigns in the two states will be announced in due course.
The NWC urges all PDP members, particularly those in the two states to remain committed and continue to work hard for the success of the party in the governorship elections.
The PDP is fielding the two incumbent governors in Kogi and Bayelsa states, Idris Wada and Hon. Seriake Dickson respectively in the governorship elections.
