Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, has described the state as a fast moving rail, moving closer to the dream of those who laboured for the creation.
The governor said this in a statement made available to CEOAFRICA correspondent by his media aide, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, to celebrate the 24th anniversary of the creation of the state.
Part of the statement read,” In about four years under his watch, Osun has inched closer to the dreams of those who laboured for the creation of the state 24 years ago.
“We are irrevocably committed to a development paradigm that will lift our state to compete with any proud human habitation anywhere in the world.
“We appreciate the fact that the masses, who are the focus of our development strategies, identify the reasons behind our many efforts. For example, our ambitious urban renewal project is aimed at transforming to the 21 century modern cities with life changing infrastructure in place.
“Projects such as the Oranmiyan New Town, a Central Business District, organised transportation system aided by road networks for the purpose, a functional emergency response scheme in health, security and transportation sectors, modern recreation parks and gardens are all geared towards creating modern environments that our people can call their own.”
Meanwhile in a similar development, the Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Najeem Salaam, has charged citizens to join hands with the present administration in the development of the state.
Salaam said this in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Goke Butikakuro, said every citizen of the state should develop interest in its development.
The Speaker commended Aregbesola’s administration, for the transformation of the state since the past 24years of its existence saying the governor had changed the status of the state from what most people called civil service state to the investment state
He said, “We cannot stay glued to tokenism of the past where consumption took the major proportion of the budget with little for the development of infrastructure and social amenities.
“However, the story is pleasant now, as our budget has become a good example for the academics and budget historians. Though, we have our challenges, nothing good comes easy.
