Former national player, Sainey Sissohore has been appointed by the Gambia Football Federation as Women's Football Coordinator.

The appointment of the one-time Gambia U-17 women's assistant captain was confirmed as she replaces Choro Mbenga who left the post few months ago.

Sissohore told Cafonline.com "I appreciate the confidence the authorities (Gambia Football Federation) have in me".

The immediate objective of the former Scorpions forward will be to coordinate and implement women football activities and to promote the game at all levels.

"Education made me who I am today, women footballers often have short careers therefore they need to take their education seriously as well as excel in football. Football is a game which needs a lot of concentration and commitment the aspiring women's footballers should be committed".

A left-footed striker during her playing days, Sissohore started her career with Abuko United, a first division (top tier) team in the women's league and served as captain later.

She was one of quintet selected to serve as ambassadors of women's football in the FIFA 'Live Your Goals Project'.
