Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State has been rated the best university for the fifth consecutive time in Nigeria following the latest ranking by Cyber metrics Lab of Spain.

A statement issued to our correspondent by the school Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abiodun  Olarewaju, on Thursday, stated that the parameters employed by the university ranking body were curricular, research, academic and general administration of the university as the best in Nigeria.

While responding to the new development, the Vice-Chancellor of OAU, Professor Bamitale Omole, enthused that this was the first time in the history of higher education in Nigeria where a university would maintain its position for more than four consecutive times.

Omole commended the ranking, and promised to make everything possible for the school to be among the best in Africa and the world at large.

The statement read: “Professor Omole emphasised his determination to make training and retraining of staff on a regular basis his topmost priority, adding that he would not rest on his oars until OAU becomes the best in Africa and one of the top 10 in the world.”

Omole, however called on the Federal Government to support the institution financially in order to achieve more. Meanwhile, the Universities of Lagos and Ilorin came second and third respectively.
