The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in Kano has sealed 36 filling stations for various offences in a bid to rid the city of fuel scarcity.

The regional controller of the department, Isa Tafida, told newsmen that DPR clamped down on the stations for selling above pump prices, diversion of product and hoarding.

Mr. Tafida said at the end of an enforcement tour, the DPR would ensure compliance to the petroleum regulatory laws.

The controller also said 23 stations selling above government approved pump price of N87 per liter would be made to pay N100,000 fine.

According to him, four stations sealed for hoarding petroleum products will be made to pay N500,000 fine, just as five stations who are involved in the diversion of the product are to pay N200,000 fine.

He said in line with the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s policy of ensuring free flow of petroleum products in stations across the country, the department will enforce selling of the product at a controlled price and prevent hoarding.
