OWERRI — As Imo people anxiously await the results of the presidential and National Assembly elections held, weekend, the state police command warned that the security agencies would not hesitate to ruthlessly deal with any person or group preparing to breach the peace in the state.

Reading the riot act in a press statement in Owerri and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, the command also said it was already aware of clandestine moves by some disgruntled politicians to foment trouble in the state.

The command also warned parents and guardians to advise their children and wards against being used by disgruntled politicians to foment trouble in the state.

It would be recalled that security was beefed up in the state, ahead of last weekend’s presidential and National Assembly elections and all attempts by thugs to either unleash mayhem or commit electoral fraud in the state were effectively checked.

Similarly, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Austen Evbakhavbokun, who is barely eight days old in the state, had earlier warned that he would not tolerate any nonsense from anybody or group, stressing that he was in the state to discharge his constitutional duties.
