The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has said it will deploy four ambulances and 3, 000 personnel to patrol major highways in the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State during the general election.

The NSCDC commandant, Alhaji Zakari Ningi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna, that the arrangement was to ensure quick response to emergencies during the period.

He said the overall aim was to ensure effective protection of residents and government installations against attack during the polls.

Ningi said a total of 13 patrol vehicles would be mobilised for election duties and to enhance the corps’ ability to respond promptly to emergencies.

The NSCDC commandant urged the general public to be law-abiding during the elections, warning that anyone caught perpetrating violence would be arrested and prosecuted.

He particularly called on parents to caution their children to shun violence during the period.
