The Conference of Publicity Secretaries of the All Progressives Congress has warned the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, against an alleged threat to the life of the APC Publicity Secretary in Ekiti State, Chief Taiwo Olatubosun.

In a statement, on Sunday, the group said Nigerians should hold Fayose responsible if anything untoward happens to Olatubosun.

The statement was jointly signed by the APC Publicity Secretaries of Ondo, Osun and Kwara states, Mr. Abayomi Adesanya, Mr. Akin Morakinyo and Alhaji Sulyman Buhari respectively.

The group alleged that Olatubosun had been the victim of threats from Fayose’s agents and aides in recent times.

It called on the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Police Command, to provide adequate security for Olatubosun, his family members and aides.

It said, “We are aware of the threat to the life of our dear colleague in Ekiti, Taiwo Olatubosun, his family members and aides by Governor Fayose’s agents. We want to warn Mr. Fayose without equivocation that, if anything should happen to Olatubosun, his family members or aides, Nigerians would hold him (Fayose) responsible.

“It is on record that Fayose’s aide, one Ariyo Afolabi, threatened Olatubosun’s life and those of his family on phone in the presence of senior police officers at the police command headquarters, Ado Ekiti, while our colleague was in the office to lodge a complaint.

“Olatubosun put his phone on speaker while Ariyo was making his threat, but up till now, the Ekiti State Police Command has not deemed it fit to invite Fayose’s aide (Afolabi) for interrogation.”

The group further warned that the threat should not be taken for granted.

It added, “Any attack, harassment, intimidation, molestation and killing of any of these people, will not be allowed to be swept under the carpet.”
