The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has accused former governor Rashidi Ladoja of fabricating lies against the Abiola Ajimobi administration, saying that Ladoja is misleading the electorate.

The party’s Director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, in a statement released on Sunday said that the Accord Party governorship candidate, Ladoja, established himself in the forefront of attempts to institutionalise dirty politics in the state since 2002.

But in a separate statement, Ladoja, through the Director of Public Communications, Ladoja 2015 Organisation, Akanmu Adeyanju, said that the promises he made to the people were hinged on his honour, adding that it was a crime for politicians to make promises they cannot fulfil.

Sadare said, “The crude manner in which Ladoja secured the governorship ticket to contest the 2003 election remains fresh in the memory of the original members of the PDP while the series of lies he told against the person of the late Lam Adesina to dislodge him from the Agodi Government House were largely responsible for the failure of the Lam administration to complete its well deserved two terms in office.

“We recall that Ladoja also sponsored many lies against the former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala administration in the build up to 2011 polls but the effect was not in his favour as a majority of the electorate knew what to do with their votes. He then sought to discredit the mandate given to Ajimobi by sponsoring infantile lies again.”

The statement by Sadare added that the APC had uncovered publications sponsored by Ladoja against Ajimobi with doctored classified information secured by his men who are still in government.

“We came by a leaflet being circulated in Ibadan over the weekend in which Ladoja and his sympathisers packaged some lies and tagged it ‘50 reasons why Ajimobi should not be re-elected.’ We are also aware of a wicked rumour being circulated around which is that scores of passengers have disappeared with two Ajumose shuttle buses. These are the handiworks of the same disgruntled elements,” it said.

The Ladoja 2015 Organisation Director of Public Communications, Adeyanju, however said that the unrealistic promises made by Ajimobi’s APC-led-government in the state had become a burden on his administration, which explained “why so much money is being spent on propaganda while essential services are paralysed in the state.”
