IAR&T’s 35th Southwest REFILS programme ready for 2023/2024 Annual Research Review

The 35th Southwest Research Extension Farmers Input Linkage Systems (REFILS) programme under the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T) Ibadan, has set the ground running for her upcoming 2023/2024 Annual Research Review, themed “Boosting Productivity of the Food System in a Climate Crisis.”

Holding between Monday, April 15 and Thursday, April 18, 2024, by 9:30am, the venue of the event is Prof E. A. Adebowale Training Hall, Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, Moor Plantation, Apata, Ibadan, Oyo State.

At the opening ceremony on Monday, April 15, the Executive Secretary of Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), Prof. Garba H. Sharubutu, will give an address; while an Agricultural Research for Development Expert, and a former Executive Director, Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa, Dr. Yemi Akinbamijo, will give the Keynote Address.

The Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) who doubles as the Chairman, Governing Board of IAR&T, Prof. A. S. Bamire; and the Director of the institute, Prof. Veronica A. Obatolu, will also give their Chairman and Director’s addresses respectively.

Goodwill Messages, Exhibitions by National agricultural Research Institutes, Farmers Organizations, Input Supply, Agencies, NGOs, and other Exhibitors, as well as Presentation of Extension reports, are other features of the opening ceremony of the 2023/2024 Annual Research Review.

The REFILS programme is the central rallying point for the institute’s research and extension activities as the custodian of the southwest Zonal Extension Mandate of the Institute. The mandate of IAR&T is to develop, validate and transfer appropriate demand-driven agricultural technologies that are eco-friendly, affordable, and adaptable through effective agricultural research and extension system.
